Hi, I’m Tony, the owner of The Dun Cow.

I took on the pub because I’ve always believed that a good village pub should be more than simply somewhere to buy a drink. At its best, it should be somewhere people can relax, meet friends, bring the dog, enjoy the garden, watch something together, or simply sit at the bar and feel welcome.

Before The Dun Cow, I spent several years as a teacher, so running a pub was certainly a change of direction — and there has been plenty to learn along the way! What I have tried to do is keep the character that makes The Dun Cow special while gradually making it a relaxed, friendly and slightly more flexible kind of country pub.

We’re a small independent pub, and that means I can choose what we serve, try different things and listen to what people actually enjoy. You’ll find well-kept beers and ciders, a growing selection behind the bar, occasional food trucks and events, a big garden, games, sport on the screen when there’s something worth watching, and plenty of room to simply have a quiet pint.

Most importantly, I want The Dun Cow to feel genuine. It doesn’t need to pretend to be a restaurant, a chain pub or something overly polished. It is an old Oxfordshire village pub with a lot of character, and my aim is simply to make it a good place to spend some time.
